Training & Development

Equality, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (EDI)

Inclusive workplaces do better with talent attraction and retention, employee engagement and morale and even reduced absenteeism. That’s because they make their employees feel like they belong. And delivering EDI training is a good step on the road to creating a truly inclusive workplace.

Equality, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (EDI) Training

This course, delivered by our Employment Lawyers, will help your staff understand more about the importance of equality, diversity, equity and inclusion by providing an overview of equalities legislation, including the protected characteristics and different types of discrimination, exploring barriers through case studies and case law, considering use of language and ‘banter’ and providing practical takeaways.

Menopause Training

This training course provides practical guidance for managers and colleagues to better understand menopause in the workplace and the support employees experiencing it might need. It encourages open discussion to ensure those who need help are confident enough of being supported to ask for it. It also considers the legal implications of failing to handle menopause in the workplace sensitively or appropriately.

Employment Law – The Basics

Understanding the basics of employment law can help business owners and managers ensure they don’t fall foul of legislation and wind up in an Employment Tribunal.

The team at Loch Associates Group can offer a wide range of employment law training to ensure you and your managers are aware of the key elements of UK employment law and feel confident in administering the employment relationship at a legal level.

Our training courses are delivered by our Employment Lawyers and range from a general overview to a deep-dive in a particular subject area:

So now you’re the Boss – An Introduction to Employment Law for New Managers

This course takes new business owners and managers on a whistle-stop tour of employment legislation in the UK. It covers contracts of employment, absence rights, family-friendly rights and safe dismissals to ensure those new to the job have the key information at their finger-tips.

Mock Employment Tribunal

Have you ever wondered what an Employment Tribunal is like or how you might handle one, if the time came? Our Mock Employment Tribunal training experience is conducted by professionals with extensive experience of Tribunal proceedings and allows you and your staff to familiarise yourselves with the court process, as well as highlighting some of the most common pitfalls.

Data Protection Training

This course is essential for anyone who handles personal data as part of their day-to-day work. It will help your staff understand the key elements of data protection law in the UK and how to comply with it in practice. It’s critical for all employees handling personal data, however much they handle and however often they handle it, particularly given the steep fines the ICO can hand down when breaches occur.

Bite Size Learning

We can also provide you with pre-recorded bite-size learning videos to watch at your leisure covering a range of topics:

  • Contracts of Employment – The Cornerstone of the Employment Relationship.
  • Absence from Work – Understanding Employee Rights & Best Practice.
  • How to handle disciplinary investigations and procedures.
  • Redundancy – Requirements, Rights & Recommendations.
  • Recruitment – How to get it Right.
  • How to handle Workplace Grievances.
  • Social Media & The Workplace.
  • Managing poor performance in the Workplace.
  • How to carry out effective appraisals.

Leadership & Team Management

People do their best work when they’re safe, healthy and happy. That’s why our approach to wellbeing solutions is focused on those three criterion. But creating healthy, happy teams isn’t always as easy as it seems. That’s why we’ve put together a collection of training programmes to assist employers and their managers with employee engagement, management and retention.

Healthy Happy Teams – Line Manager Training

This training programme looks at the soft skills managers need to engage and retain their staff and encourages the participants to consider their own skills in turn. It considers communication styles, listening and questioning skills and attitudes and mood management, as well as providing practical advice and guidance for managing performance, achieving staff engagement and improving retention rates.

Nip it in the bud Training

This practical workshop equips managers with the skills they need to prevent the escalation of HR issues. By considering different conflict management styles and reviewing case studies of difficult conversations, your managers will feel empowered to handle different people, behaviours and conversations in the workplace.

Managing Remote Workers Effectively

This interactive workshop equips managers with the skills they need to lead remote workers and make hybrid working effective and efficient.

Family Friendly Workplaces

It’s not just the law that tells us workplaces need to be family friendly. It’s also the research. We know that businesses that implement family friendly policies see increased staff loyalty and retention by return and that those who provide enhanced family leave packages report improvements in the attraction and retention of top talent.

Our training courses provide an overview of the law on family friendly rights in the UK and also provide practical guidance to help employers better support their employees.

A Family Friendly Workplace – Understanding employee Rights

This training course explains the family friendly rights employees benefit from including maternity leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, shared parental leave and parental bereavement leave. It covers the right to request flexible working, when it’s available and how to handle a request and considers the business case for becoming a family friendly workplace.

Returning to the Workplace – How can managers ease the transition?

This training course focuses on providing managers with the knowledge and understanding to assist employees who are returning to the workplace, whether from a period of family leave or a full career break. A recent poll of more than 1,000 people who had returned to work after an absence of a year, conducted by Survation for Vodafone UK, found that 37% of those who return to work after a year or more away experience a loss of confidence in their own ability. It’s therefore vital managers know how to support workplace returners in order to get the best from them and ensure they’re getting the most out of being back in the workplace.

Family Friendly Policies

Our team of HR consultants can provide you with a suite of family friendly policies including maternity leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, adoption leave, parental leave, parental bereavement leave and fertility treatment.

Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate the fact that you were able to understand the nature of our company and tailor your advice accordingly. I think that ability is key in defining a good lawyer. Lawyers who cannot deviate from 100% security are of little use.
