Meet Saffron our Snailspace Snail

We’re delighted to introduce Saffron, our very own Snailspace Snail!

Snailspace is a public art installation consisting of 50 giant sized snails, each painted by a local artist.  The Snail Trail winds its way around the streets of Brighton & Hove between September and November and is raising money for Martlets Hospice.  At the end of the citywide exhibition, the Snails will be ‘rehomed’, via an auction, to raise vital funds for Martlets. We have sponsored our very own snail called Saffron, who has been wonderfully designed and painted by artist  Ilona Drew, and can be visited in Steine Gardens throughout the duration of the Snail Trail.

Why snails?!

Martlets Hospice explain why they chose the snail to feature as the centre piece of the campaign:

The snail sculpture resonates so wonderfully with the work we do at  Martlets. Our hospice care helps people do the things they love with the time they have. In this fast-paced city it’s often hard to remember to  slow down and appreciate the things in life that make us smile. The strikingly painted snails across our city will be a constant reminder to take a moment to enjoy the time we have with the people we share our lives with.

Why have we sponsored a snail?

The idea behind the Snail Trail is to encourage everyone to slow down and to #BeMoreSnail, as Imelda Glackin, CEO of Martlets Hospice says “Our life-changing hospice care helps people do the things they love with the time they have. In this fast-paced city it’s often hard to remember to slow down and appreciate the things in life that make us smile.” Here at Loch Associates Group, this message resonated with the work that we do – encouraging employers to see the benefits of looking after the wellbeing of themselves and their staff, so it was a natural partnership to sponsor our very own snail.
