Business Editor Tony Patey writes about the proposed abolition of the 48 hour working week and the affect this may have on firms which have cut their workforces during the down-turn.
“Instead of being able to rely on employees working additional hours, businesses will have to ensure workers limit their hours. Many may have to consider recruiting more people to cover the same workload. Businesses that have made staff reductions might face the possibility of being forced to recruit employees to bolster a workforce which can only work a set number of hours each week.”
